How can I fix a toilet flapper that prevents flushing?

Check the flapper chain, seal, and tank water level. Most no-flush issues come from a stuck chain or a warped flapper. To fix it:

  • Turn off water and drain the tank.
  • Give the chain slight slack so it doesn’t snag.
  • Clean the flapper seat to remove mineral buildup.
  • Replace the flapper if cracked or swollen (match 2 in. or 3 in.).
  • Refill, test, and adjust water level to the tank’s mark. We provide Toilet Repair with upfront pricing in Merrillville and Crown Point.
